It’s that time of year for repaving driveways and parking lots…
The Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana has received numerous calls recently about asphalt contractors going door-to-door, offering to pave parking lots and driveways.
It is critical that before you commence work with any contractors that you do your homework.
“Don’t be in a rush. If your driveway or parking lot needs paved, call BBB to get a report on the asphalt contractor you are considering,” said Michael Coil, president/CEO of BBB.
“Don’t assume anything, regardless of how pleasant they may seem. BBB suggests getting at least three quotes. Be sure that you are comparing the quotes objectively. The lowest price is not always the best deal if certain information is left out of the contract.
“Be specific with what you want done to save yourself grief in the end. Be sure names and phone numbers are listed on the quote, and get everything in writing. By going to www.bbb.org, you can click on the red icon that reads “Request a Quote” and ask for estimates from as many BBB-accredited businesses as you want.
BBB seeks to create a community of trustworthy businesses, set standards for marketplace trust, encourage and support best practices, celebrate marketplace role models and denounce substandard marketplace behavior. Businesses that earn BBB accreditation contractually agree and adhere to the organization’s high standards of ethical business behavior. BBB is the preeminent resource to turn to for objective, unbiased information on businesses and charities. Contact BBB, serving northern Indiana, at 1-800-552-4631.
